Tisha B'av Movie Screening on August 13

"Legend of Destruction"

Legend of Destruction unfolds during the Roman rule over the Land of Israel, highlighting rampant social inequalities, corruption, and a fervent cry for freedom. Jerusalem, on the verge of explosion, is torn apart by Zealot-driven civil war and famine. When the Roman legions finally attack the weakened city, disaster ensues.

Created with 1,500 original paintings by David Polonsky and Michael Faust, and an evocative score by Assaf Talmudi and Yonatan Albalak, the film is rooted in the historical accounts of Yosef Ben Matityahu. It vividly portrays the dangers of greed, social injustice, corruption, and religious fanaticism.

Though these events took place 2,000 years ago, their message is still relevant today. Winner of four Israeli Academy Awards, Legend of Destruction is a powerful reflection on the perils of societal and religious extremism.
